Academic Credit for ISV Volunteer Projects

Some students wish to earn university credit for their involvement in our program. In the USA, Canada and UK academic credit is achieved through independent study. Australian and New Zealand participants must arrange this through a credit granting university. If you choose to participate in academic credit, you must be placed on an approved academic credit project with a qualified academic credit supervisor (Project Leader).

Many former students describe earning academic credit as an incredibly powerful and personally tailored learning experience. Students earn academic credit for their ISV Program through Independent Study at their home institution. Students then take their ISV Program information to their professor and work with him/her to design a highly individualized Independent Study course in the field of conservation, community development or any other relevant topic.

If you need further assistance, please email our office at academiccredit@isvonline.org.

Participants from Australia and New Zealand ONLY:

Students are eligible to earn 12 credit points for their participation on the Two-Week Volunteer Program through an Australian University, the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT). For further details, please click here.

ISV is the perfect experiential learning program. Whether you’re looking to get academic credit or not – you’ll have the most amazing and educational experience learning about your host country, its people, its culture and the issues facing it.
