ISV Achievements for 2008 - Costa Rica

During 2008, ISV’s participants supported a number of Conservation and Community Development projects across the country, mainly improving life standards of local villagers and producing valuable data on scientific research. In addition to achieve the following material facts, many of the most rewarding achievements imply intangible tasks, especially regarding the social impact into the communities and more than 130 host families. Participant testimonies reflect a life changing and heartwarming experience that proved culturally educational and fun. At the same time, participants made an amazing contribution to positive community development and the conservation of several endangered species of flora and fauna.

  • 0.114 km² (0.044 mi²) surveyed for fruit production
  • 460 seed tags made
  • 1755 seeds tagged
  • 1680 seeds tracked inside the forest
  • 16 seed traps and 99 seed enclosures built
  • 840 m² (9042 ft²) of seed traps checked
  • 1900 lines of data filled out
  • 3 km (1.86 mi) of beach cleaned
