In addition to the five included activities in the ISV Costa Rica adventure tour, ISV is pleased to offer you this exciting Optional Activity Package (OAP). These activities are more of the best that Costa Rica has to offer in outdoor adventure and appreciation of the spectacular natural surroundings. Each year about 95% of participants choose the ISV Optional Activity Package as it adds such great value to the overall experience. All activities in the package will be organised by ISV staff prior to arrival, which ensures availability so that you won’t miss out. All you have to do is show up and be ready to have a great time!

Arenal Volcano Evening Hot Springs
Soothe and soak sore muscles as you relax in natural hot springs at night. As one of the largest attractions of the area, the thermal pools range in temperature and are surrounded by beautiful vegetation. There are waterfalls and a swim-up bar for ice-cold refreshments. With luck, you will see nature’s fireworks as Volcan Arenal erupts in the distance from the comfort of the pools.
Rappel at Arenal Adventure World Ecological Park
Get set for adrenaline and adventure as you rappel down a rushing waterfall! Descending 30 m (90 ft) on a free rappel followed by another 50 m down the Pino Blanco waterfall. This is the largest rappel in Costa Rica and will be an unforgettable experience for those with courage and thirst for adventure!
Horseback Riding & Tubing Adventure in Rincon de la Vieja National Park
Explore Rincon de la Vieja National Park with two exciting activities. First, start with a relaxed horseback ride through breathtaking forest and scenic trails. Take a break at the beautiful emerald-green Oropendola Waterfall. After this, get ready for the Rio Negro Tubing Adventure! Ride the river rapids for an hour and a half in your own inflatable inner tube.
Guided Hike to Las Pailas Trail & Simbiosis Mud Spa
Visit one of the most famous national parks in all of Costa Rica. Take a guided trek for two hours walk along Las Pailas Trail. The naturalist guide will explain the geothermal wonders such as boiling mud, sulphur lagoons, geysers and natural steam baths. They will also help you spot all the wildlife! Finish this fantastic day at the unique Simbiosis Mud Spa. Enjoy a mud bath from natural mud from the hot boiling ponds, and then bathe in thermal springs, hidden in the middle of the forest.
Kayaking & Snorkelling in Samara Beach
From Samara Beach, enjoy a leisurely paddle by kayak to Isla Chora. Leave your kayaks on the beach, grab your mask, snorkel and fins and explore beautiful clear waters looking for tropical marine life. Participants will also have the opportunity to scuba diving at an additional cost.
Surf Lessons at Samara Beach
Costa Rica is famous for surfing in Latin America. Here's your chance to take lessons from professionals who will teach you everything you need to know to get you "hanging ten"! Surfing is one of ISV’s top rated activities, so don’t miss out!
