In every Latin country ISV offers incredible Spanish Language & Latin Dance Lessons that take place prior to the Volunteer Project. These Spanish Lessons are a MUST as they enhance your total ISV experience and enable you to converse with the locals. This is an invaluable opportunity for participants to develop and/or improve their Spanish language skills prior to beginning their ISV Volunteer Project, and includes an exciting introduction to Costa Rican culture.

Since the vast majority of ISV participants traveling to Costa Rica participate in the ISV Spanish Language & Latin Dance Lessons regardless of their Spanish language skills, ISV assumes your participation and will add the cost of the Spanish Lessons to your Program invoice. Any ISV participant who chooses to opt out of the Spanish Lessons (for example, you already speak fluent Spanish) must notify the ISV USA office via the Flight/Options Form (see below). Beginner, intermediate, and advanced Spanish Lessons are available.

These lessons consist of a 7 day program that includes a four-day course of Spanish lessons, Latin dance classes, and a home stay with a local family so you can practice your Spanish daily. This is an incredible introduction to language and culture in your host country!

Logistics

Spanish Lessons participants will fly into San Jose, Costa Rica on Friday, 7 days before their ISV Program begins. Participants will be met at the San Jose Airport by their host family and taken to their home in the area of Heredia (a suburb of the capital city of San Jose).

Getting to your project:
At the conclusion of Spanish Lessons, participants will be responsible for arranging transportation to the Hotel America in central Heredia on Friday afternoon for the ISV Orientation Meeting (please note: the Language School is only five blocks from Hotel America). All ISV Participants will take part in the ISV Orientation Meeting and stay at Hotel America on Friday night. Participants will depart for their Volunteer Projects on Saturday morning.

Flight/Options Form

All participants must fill out a Flight/Options Form. Once you receive this Form, you will be required to send in the appropriate non-refundable deposits ($100 CAD Flight Deposit + $100 CAD Spanish Lessons Deposit). The Balance will be due with all other Program costs on or before 65 days prior to departure.
