Canadian - Optional Spanish Lessons - Dominican Republic

OPTIONAL 5-DAY SPANISH LESSONS
(5-days prior to the start of your ISV program)

ISV is pleased to announce a wonderful opportunity for participants to enhance their experience in the Dominican Republic culture through Spanish language and Latin dance lessons offered five days prior to the start of the ISV program. ISV strongly recommends this program to participants as a great opportunity to get acclimated to the Dominican Republic and for participants to get the most out of their volunteer experience.

What is included?


Participants who select this option will need to arrive into Santiago (STI), DR on the Sunday five days prior to the ISV program. Spanish lessons will actually begin at 8:00 am on Monday morning. You will experience:

  • 5 days and 5 nights' accommodation at a homestay in Santiago, Dominican Republic.
  • 3 meals per day (provided at a local cafeteria and at homestay)
  • 20 hours of Spanish language lessons for all levels. (Monday thru Thursday, 5 hrs per day)
  • 5 local Latin dance lessons (Monday thru Thursday)
  • 1 local cooking lesson
  • Transportation from homestay to school and vice versa
  • Participants who select this option will be met at the airport by their host families or an ALPI representative.
What is the cost?

The cost for this option is $370.00CAD.

Who is this for?

This opportunity is optional and open to all ISV participants traveling to the Dominican Republic between May & September 2008, regardless of your Spanish language skills; beginner, intermediate and advanced Spanish language lessons are available. This program is highly recommended to all participants as a great introduction to the Dominican Republic with full cultural immersion prior to the volunteer experience.

This is a valuable opportunity to develop or improve your Spanish language skills prior to beginning the ISV volunteer work project. It is a perfect opportunity to get acclimated to the country and to help you get the most out of your volunteer experience.

How do I get there? 


Spanish Lesson flight details are included with the group departure information found on the "ISV Group Flight Details" page.

Participants arranging their own flight must arrive on or before the ISV group flight (see "ISV Group Flight Details" page) in order to be met by your host family.

How do I sign up?

Complete the ISV “Flight/Options” form and indicate the Spanish Lessons Option preference. Submit this form with all applicable non-refundable deposits. The balance will be due with all other program costs on or before 65 days prior to departure.
