In addition to the five included activities in the ISV New Zealand adventure tour, ISV is pleased to offer participants traveling to New Zealand this exciting Optional Activity Package (OAP). These activities are more of the best that New Zealand has to offer in outdoor adventure and discovery of the culture and spectacular natural surroundings. Each year about 95% of participants obtain the OAP as it adds such amazing value to the overall experience. All activities in the package will be organised by ISV staff prior to your arrival, which ensures availability so that you won’t miss out on these popular activities. All you have to do is show up and be ready to have a great time!

The Black Abyss – Black Water Rafting (Waitomo)
The Black Abyss is an exhilarating five hour extravaganza which is a more challenging upgrade to the ISV included black water rafting activity. Imagine this: enter the caves by abseiling deep down into the vast limestone cavern. Then you will find yourself climbing underground waterfalls, jumping off rocks into the water and zip-lining in the dark across the glow worm lit river. This is caving at its most exciting!
Franz Josef Glacier Hike (Franz Josef)
An incredible glacier experience with phenomenal photo opportunities. Start the adventure with a stunning hike along the beautiful valley floor to the foot of the glacier. Gaining confidence as you go and with a total of up to 6 hours on the ice you could find yourself in all manner of situations, from squeezing through tight blue crevasses to sliding through ice caves. Along the way you will learn about the creation, melt and movement of this ice giant! Travel to spectacular icefalls in the mid reaches where expert guides use step-cutting techniques to make this extensive and challenging trip surprisingly achievable.
Zorb! (Rotorua)
Zig, Zag Zorb! You’ve seen it on “The Amazing Race” – now experience this unique kiwi activity for yourself! Slip, slide and tumble down a track inside an enormous inflated plastic ball with two of your new best friends up to the speed of 50km per hour. Guaranteed fun and laughter like you’ve never had before!
Mountain Biking (Rotorua)
Explore the beautiful Whakarewarewa Forest of Rotorua on a two hour guided Mountain Bike tour! Rotorua is famous for some of the best mountain biking on the planet attracting thousands of people from all over New Zealand and the world. Wind and weave your way through a lush forest of Redwood, Radiata Pine, Douglas Fir, Eucalypts and Larch on purpose built trails suitable for all levels of ability. A chance to get the adrenalin pumping in New Zealand’s great outdoors!
Maori Cultural Performance and Hangi Dinner (Rotorua)
Spend an evening learning about Maori customs, rituals, beliefs, and language through song, dance and performance before enjoying an authentic “Hangi” (ground cooked feast). You will have the chance to experience a formal Maori welcome (Powhiri) and see a “Haka” (traditional Maori war challenge) in an authentic and powerful presentation of Maori Culture! An experience not to be missed.
Shotover Jet (Queenstown)
Hold on tight and experience the thrills of jet boating by twisting and turning at breathtaking speeds through the narrow Shotover river canyons, flying fast past rocky outcrops and spinning 360 degrees in the open areas. Find out what a jet boat can really do Kiwi style!
